I don't understand why you need to know the logged in persons password just to log them out....also this can be bypassed by logging in as a guest

It was added to prevent an exploit that sent you to the logout.php link which would log you out if you were logged in with remember me.

This. Also, you can log in, back out, and then hit logout and it works as it used to.
