I think that makes the chat look a bit crowded, maybe hovering over the message shows the timestamp instead. Something like that. I like the idea though.

Have it toggleable, and maybe ditch the seconds to save space.
Alternatively, it could show the time when you hover the mouse over the message.

That looks weird. No thanks. And what time zone would it use? Would it detect each person's time zone? How would that work?

RE: Time stamps in chat - Ashley766 - 7th August 2020

Yeah it looks like it has too much space in the chatroom itself. I think a toggleable option would be fine

RE: Time stamps in chat - Camer the Dragon - 8th August 2020

Could just do it like
21:40

I don't think the seconds are necessary and it lowers the clutter without them
also I think it'd be better to have on the left of the names and in bold like

21:40 Camer999: 🐉
21:42 Frigid: Hello!

The time could just be client based on the system the person is running

RE: Time stamps in chat - John m. - 8th August 2020

Maybe if you hover over the message in the chat it could show the time in a little bubble

RE: Time stamps in chat - David - 8th August 2020

Yeah the PR2 chat really isn't big enough for this to look right, I like the idea of hovering your cursor over a message and the timestamp showing then

RE: Time stamps in chat - bls1999 - 8th August 2020

I've wanted to add this for a while. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has seen messages that could've been sent hours and hours ago and wondered when they were actually sent.

ActionScript can actually detect the timezone to which your computer is set and use that one. I actually plan to include timezone support for everything in the PR2 client at some point. Alternatively, it could be relative time (e.g., just now, 2 hours ago, etc), but I like the idea of time better. The client is already using the user's timezone to display a level's updated date.

Oh cool! I didn't know there was time zone detection. If it can be made to look nice, then go for it. It's a good idea.

I really didn’t intend my example pic in the bio to be professional or look official as this is an example and speaks for its self.

RE: Time stamps in chat - GI_John - 15th August 2020

I was thinking, because sometimes there isn't a lot of space, maybe when you hover the message the timestamp could replace the message itself.
