TARIFFS - Different - 12th April 2025

Someone want to step up to the plate and explain to us how this man’s huge tariffs on China is benefiting us? He’s been in office for what, 3 months now and he’s already making a mess out of this country. A 145% tax tariff on China (which is where we get most of our goods from) sounds expensive. A vast majority of our goods in the US are literally made from China. Then this man had the gall to say that “America will be rich again”. I don’t see how the hell that’s possible with these ridiculous tariffs. Then he lied and said the gas prices were going down, when in reality, they’re steadily climbing as we speak.

When you’re a billionaire, you don’t really give a shit about the American people. Maybe that’s a harsh thing to say, but it’s usually affirmative when you pay attention to a person’s actions.

Anyway, what do you guys think about these ridiculous tariffs? I wanna hear from real humans, no bots!

RE: TARIFFS - Delphinoid_ - 14th April 2025

The plan, I guess, was to make outsourcing so expensive that it would (eventually??) bring manufacturing back to the US. Or at least I think that's what the plan was supposed to be. In reality this had no shot at working, so who knows what the actual plan was. Some people will say it's "4D chess", but honestly I think it's pretty clear (and has been for a long time, to anyone paying attention) that Trump and his administration really are just that stupid.

If you want my opinion, I think it's no deeper than this: Trump is well known to be a bully and a con man, and he's totally convinced that he can bully the big boys, throw his weight around and get concessions from other powers. That all he has to do is make some threats and things will magically go his way (whatever way that might be). The truth is, of course, that this is utterly delusional. His egotistical and childish approach to leadership is just going to end up burying the US if it's left unchecked.

Not that any of this matters to him or his supporters though. If there's one takeaway from the past 8 years of American politics, it's that most people - and honestly, not just Americans, I think this is probably true of people the world over - vote purely based on vibes rather than policy. If someone personally had a bad year, they'll vote for the other party, or they'll vote for whoever seems to have the most personality or whatever (doesn't matter if it's a good or bad personality, apparently). It's just a shame that the vibes Americans voted for this time were nothing but raw, unfocused anger and vitriol.

I think their plan is to destroy America at this point, and unfortunately it looks like they’re using Trump to do it. It’s been confirmed that we’re all just pawns in their diabolical plot to destroy America. I mean, why else would you enforce tariffs on other countries? I don’t think they’re stupid, but more calculating and manipulative.

Trust me, it’s a lot deeper than you think. They’ve got some very powerful, small group of people working behind the scenes making sure that their agendas get pushed through Trump. A lot of people seem to love that man because he tells them what they want to hear. It’s all a theatrical show… a puppet theatre. At the end of the day he knows that if he wants to stay in power and stay a billionaire, he will do what he’s told. He’s definitely done some dirt to become a powerful, public figure.

On the other hand, I think it’s sad how they worship him like he’s some sort of God that we should all just bow down to. Like, who the hell are you? He has the gall to put up a golden statue of himself for the world to see. It’s just psychotic and narcissistic behavior to me.
