JAIL 💀

How much do you value your freedom right now? If you were to suddenly make a conscious decision to turn to a life of crime (regardless of your own moral standards) because you’ve recently had some unfortunate circumstances happen to you, and you go to jail for life, it would probably crush the living souls out of most of you. Why is that? It’s because a lot of you have probably never been to jail before. Kiss your 9-5 jobs, your businesses, and any other avenues that you use to make money, goodbye because you’re going to jail and you’re probably going to die there. You’re going to be so miserable knowing that you will never see the light of day… ever!

No need to worry about the usual, daily problems of your life right now because you’re going to spend the rest of your life behind bars! There’s no escape. If you do try to escape, you will be shot on sight! Everyday you will get bullied by people who are bigger than you, stronger than you, and taller than you. Cockroaches crawling around in your cell, disgusting walls, hard floors, no windows, beds made out of hard material, and disgusting toilets where inmates have taken a shit in. When you go to take a shower, the other inmates can see you. You’re the little man who’s now fresh meat, and when you bend down to pick up the bar of soap… it’s over if you know what I mean!

You see, we’re so used to living comfortably in a modern society where technology has made our lives easier, we have the freedom to travel where ever we want to go, and we don’t have to tolerate someone telling us what to do or how to think. But when you go to jail, it’s like a big part of your soul has risen and left your body. Now you’re in a terrifying world where you’re more vulnerable to getting raped, stabbed, beaten to death, and possibly shot. You feel like there is no hope for you anymore. You’re constantly having to watch your back because you have mentally insane inmates who can go off on you at any time.

All your dreams and aspirations of being a game designer have been striped away from you because not only do you have a record now, you have hardly no privileges in jail. Remember: I’m not talking about putting you into a comfortable jail cell (like the rest of these hi-end cells are)… I’m talking about one where you’re sleeping on hard ass beds, you’re doing your business on disgusting toilets in front of people, you have inmates next door who are loud and obnoxious jerks, you have no windows to escape, and you’re constantly being watched by guards and a camera.

For those of you who are mentally weak, feeling isolated, frightened, and depressed… jail would break you mentally because you’re forced to survive in a war zone that’s far from your comfort zone. Every single day you’re eating bologna sandwiches, wearing the same clothes, interacting with strange personalities in the courtyard (that has tall walls with barbed wires around them), and putting up with the same routine every single day. You’re lucky to even get a phone call, social visits, and tv time. But you don’t get to decide when you do any of those things, the wardens do. All you need to do is shut the hell up and do your time.

Do you really think people care about your problems there? Hell no! The level of anxiety is so unfathomable because you’re dealing with the most insufferable people there. God forbid they put you in a jail cell with some people who are assholes. If you have medical issues, dental issues, or anything, I guarantee you nobody will care. There’s no premium treatment, special privileges, no nothing!

It’s so easy to just log on JV whenever you feel like it because no one is in charge of you. I get it, you use JV as a soft and comfortable coping mechanism to deal with medical issues and social issues of the unjust world that we all live in. But if you were to suddenly go to jail right now, all those things would be completely stripped away from you. No smartphones, no internet, no Netflix, no video games, no sex, no JV… no freedom! It’s over my friends. All those things that you used to take for granted are suddenly appreciated now, huh? Eventually you’ll be so mentally broken that you’re going to look for a cigarette to deal with anxiety issues in jail. You could be there for life!

Jail will toughen you up to see if you can survive without the modern, comfortable world that we live in. If you’re mentally weak, and the inmates sense that in you, they’re going to take advantage of you and beat the living shit out of you.

How well do you think you would deal with jail knowing that you’re going to be there for the rest of your life? The video below is a perfect example of going to jail.

So, I have experience in this area. My previous job was being a civilian supervisor at a Max facility. (Background: I worked there as a supervisor for a career program for inmates to prepare for work once they are released). I was subjected to most of the rules the inmates had to follow. I could not bring my phone and I still had to follow CO instructions if required. I worked with the worst of the worst, but some of them took their jobs seriously and enjoyed it. I can tell when they miss their freedom as the civilians were allowed to bring food from the outside and soon as they saw the McDonalds bag, they craved it. i can also see a difference between newly arrived inmates who are adjusting to their life behind bars to the ones who have been there for ages, you adjust to the rules and procedures and they like having structure in their life.

To say the least, once I was promoted to a job outside of the prison, I was relieved and happy to have a little bit more freedom at work. It was an experience I wont forget. The inmates wrote me a goodbye card as well.

What’s the security level like there? Is it like hi-tech security where everything is state-of-the-art, and they have cameras, metal doors, and guards everywhere, or is it easy for someone to escape from there? I asked because I’ve seen a lot of documentaries on YouTube where former inmates have shared their experiences that were based on how they escaped from prison using weaknesses in the system, and how they got caught.

So I will say its a mixture of old and new stuff. This prison was built in the the 1930's (I believe) and its age shows it. A lot of stuff is really antiquated but they have made security modern. They have barbed wire, double fencing and trip wires. Security was tight as metal detectors were the norm and only see through bags were permitted. The prison also is basically in the middle of nowhere and could cause someone to be disoriented. No one escaped during my time and I havent heard of anyone doing so either. The main weakness I think is just staffing issues, as COs are constantly working overtime or double shifts.
