They're moving to a free to play model in the next big version.
Currently the beta can be playtested if you own the full version.
Here's a few things noteworthy:
- There's a new gamemode in the works that consists of a 32v32 with flag capture, which is great if you don't like battle royales that much.
- You can get some cosmetics free (Clothes, emotes...) by random drops, or redeem tickets for them in a rotating store, although the animals can simply be unlocked as normal.
- There's battle passes and paid cosmetics now, they're definitely overpriced right now so I hope they lower the prices later.
Right now most people are playing the beta rather than the stable version, so I would recommend waiting a few days or weeks if you want to try it out.

SAW vs Rebels:
- The fact that there are now 4 flags is a lot better than when there were only 3. Previously, most games would result in the same outcome after a minute or two, everyone fighting in bamboo game after game with so many people that it devolved into firing in a direction and hoping you hit someone due to the vast amount of information on screen, too much to reasonably take in. Now however, the 4 flags in a ring still create big fights but in more varied locations and much more manageable in terms of the amount of information being required to take in.
- The 3 flag control countdown timer and 4 flag control doubling the speed of victory is good. Having the timer be for only 4 flag control would make it go mostly unused and make the mode feel closer to the modes we already have, by adding more emphasis on the flags it makes the mode much more unique adding variety to the game which will prevent burnout.

General Gameplay:
- Kill milestones unlocking the different gun colours makes them feel more earnt through mastery of that weapon type rather than a standard purchase or roll of the dice, which makes them not only look cool but feel cool to earn and makes them something to be proud of.

Menus/Monetary Changes:
- The SAW tickets display for how many you have is very good at the moment, it has a border symbolising that you can click to purchase more but without an obnoxious plus sign constantly bugging you to buy more past the point that you wish to which would be a step back if it were to be added, so please do not.
- The game not going for any lootbox mechanics is a very, very good thing. Lootboxes are gambling that should raise a game's age to 18, which for a game like SAR which is pitched as a fun game for even younger people would be heavily predatory psychologically, forcing people to pay for the chance to get the item that they want. Whilst I am not in any way a fan of rotating stores, I can for sure say that they are far, far better than lootboxes and that I would take a rotating store over a lootbox any day.
- The animal pass is extremely good value for money, even if it were to not include any tickets within the pass itself then I would still see it as such. $5.50 for all of the cosmetics within it for the first pass and $2 for subsequent ones is extremely cheap and the price could be raised by a few US dollars if required, which may be the case with something I discuss in the next section of this feedback.

SAW vs Rebels:
- Controlling all flags and then losing control of one should double the capture timer. Currently, it's better to control 4 flags, lose one then re-take it than it is to hold the 4 flags which seems strange, additionally, this way the time you spend at 4 flags is double the speed countdown but the bonus doesn't last even after one is taken back.
- Overtime should be a feature of the game. When 1-3 down on flags and capturing to make it 2-2 the game shouldn't be allowed to end on the capture timer hitting 0, instead it should go into overtime until either the flag is captured or the capture is cancelled. Losing whilst capturing a flag to make it 2-2 feels bad and also makes the timer effectively less than 60s if a lot of players are left, since once the timer passes a certain point, winning by elimination becomes the only way to stop the victory.
- Capturing and defending flags in the gas is too mandatory. The gas play is strategic but feels forced a lot of the time, rather than a strategy that appears every so often. The gas instead should be replaced with an area that highlights enemy locations, which would be marked similarly to your teammates on the map but in red. This would make it so that the enemy couldn't hide forever whilst also stopping certain flag captures becoming inaccessible due to the gas circle. The flag countdown timers and battles at these flags would lower the player count to elimination rather quickly even without the gas.

General Gameplay:
- High ping mode should be more visible. Currently, it's a yellow number and asterisk in the top right, this is very tough to focus on during combat which is when it matters. Something such as a yellow border to the screen and a yellow tint should be applied while in high ping mode, or at least the option for this should be available.
- Ping spikes are punished too harshly. Presently, after even one ping spike you'll be in high ping mode for a while. In EU servers I've had it multiple times where my ping reads 21 with an asterisk for at least 5 seconds because of one ping spike. The reason that this is an issue is because having to swap between the mindset of clientside and serverside hits is quite the task and can end up more of a handful than just dealing with constant serverside hits. High ping mode should tick down faster if you are at a lower ping for longer and if you have a low average ping.
- Hamsterballs should do a maximum of just over 100 damage. Getting 99 damage hits at full speed is very annoying and even more apparent with the new damage indicators, the hamsterballs should do a maximum of 101 or 102 damage so that the weird rounding that could cause a 99 hit instead rounds to a 100, still doing maximum damage to the other player.

Menus/Monetary Changes:
- Exiting should not be in a menu. My concern here is that people end up playing longer than they wish to because there is no immediate "leave" option, this could leave people to crave something new and impulse buy creating dissatisfaction. Exiting should be a power button and be somewhere such as the bottom-left of the home tab (where the "founders" tag is now) to allow easier access to it.
- The shop tab should default to Carl's Cart, not to the SAW Shop. Seeing the premium items every time the shop is opened could push people into wanting to buying them simply as they are seen often, rather than the person wanting the item for what it is, resulting in a sub-standard purchase and dissatisfaction. If the shop tab were to default to Carl's Cart instead, this issue would be solved.
- All items for purchase should be displayed at the same size. The higher rarity items appear larger and therefore more eye-catching than the smaller, cheaper items not based on how much a player would want to buy the item, but rather from the eye-catching nature of the presentation. Hovering the mouse over any item displays it on the character and so all items are perfectly visible even if they were to be in boxes of the same size. All items for purchase being the same visible size would draw people to what they want on their character and not what is the most eye-catching in the single moment it is in the shop.
- Tickets should be able to be bought in completely flexable amounts. At present, people are forced to buy tickets in set denominations for no reason and this causes people to have purchase more than they need, these leftover tickets are then either used on things a player does not want or are left unused. Tickets should be able to be purchased at a rate of 1 Ticket = $0.01 for any amount within an lower and upper limit, the lower limit to prevent strange currency conversion rounding abuse, this could be set at 50 or 100 tickets and the upper limit to prevent spending of too much in a singular purchase, this limit could be 4000 or 5000 tickets.
- There should not be "bonus tickets" or a percentage off the price for ordering a large quantity. The concept of bonus tickets or a discount to large purchases negatively affects people in that they may buy a larger amount for the "bonus" or discount and then have an overabundance of tickets, this causes the same problems as described in the previous paragraph in that these tickets are either left unused or spent on purchases that create a sub-optimal experience for the player as they merely bought the items to use tickets and not because they liked said items, meaning they may have very well gotten better use from their money by buying less tickets but were drawn in by the allure of "bonus tickets" or a discount. By having a strict 1 Ticket = $0.01 system as I described before, this would alleviate both this problem and the aforementioned one.
- The pricing of the SAW shop cosmetics is way too high. The singular ghillie suit cosmetic being $12 is overly expensive, even in a 3D game I would see $12 as pushing it and whereas the 2D art in this game is great, it should not be as expensive as its 3D counterpart. I feel that the price of the cosmetics at current should be made either 1/4 of their current price or 1/3 of it if 1/4 is too low to sustain. Given the great value of the animal pass it would be fine to see that increase in price by a few hundred SAW tickets to compensate for this change.
- I quite strongly dislike rotating shops being the only means of purchasing items. Whereas rotating shops are far, far better than lootboxes they still have many major flaws, one of which being that they arbitrarily heavily restrict consumer choice to a very small percentage of the total available items, this causes people to buy what is the best item currently on offer rather than the item that they actually like the most but hasn't come up in the last few months due the the whims of the randomness of the rotation and they just want something new and exciting after being forced to wait for so long. It is said that the decision to implement a rotating shop was to help reduce choice paralysis, however I have an idea to reduce choice paralysis whilst letting people purchase the items they want rather than the items they are given, this is to keep the offers and featured rotation as they are currently but have them as actual offers of, for example, 10% off and 20% off respectively. All of the available items would still be up for purchase in a separate menu however, sorted by cosmetic type (e.g. hats, eyewear, clothes, etc.) and then further by rarity in each of these sections to further lower choice paralysis in this menu for anyone who chooses to access it.
- If rotating shops in their current form are here to stay, they should not offer items you already own. Items you already own appearing in the stock of the rotating shop means that the chance of getting something new is still low when you have a large proportion of the items owned meaning that the problem with the mole crate being random and rarely giving you what you need is still here but with the added task of being forced to check the shop daily which ingrains unhealthy habits and can cause dissatisfaction and burnout among players. Only showing new items every day to the player would at the very least give them something to choose from, even if a lot worse than giving the player full choice over the cosmetics they wish to purchase.

- Players could be allowed to select 2 loadouts, one for if you're placed on the SAW team and the other for if you're placed on the Rebels team, this could help with style/design matching.

- The stats page could have the text centred in the black box and be made to fill more of the space, because at the moment it looks very empty.
- The top bar menu seems slightly too small and making it a little bit bigger could help a lot, especially for those who play on lower resolutions.
- The animal pass should be timeless, this would allow people to purchase and work through it at their own pace when they can. This would remove the fear of missing out on getting the rewards from the pass whilst also keeping items in the pass to allow the developers to continue earning money from them, rather than moving the items over the Carl's Cart. This would benefit both the players of the game and the developers too.
- Players should be able to purchase the animal pass partially via tickets they would earn from purchasing it. For example, the current animal pass costs 550 tickets and contains 300 tickets exclusive to the paid animal pass. If someone were to have 400 tickets in their account and have completed the free animal pass, they would have had 700 tickets if they had these tickets, enough to purchase the pass, the animal pass should allow people to use these tickets they would earn by purchasing it to purchase it.

Haven't posted in here in a while, but the game officially launched on 26th August 2021 to v1.0!
(it's currently in v1.1).
It's on Steam, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and Switch, with Stadia planned sometime in future.
For Xbox and Switch, NO online subscription (Gold or Nin Online) is required, you can play it regardless of whether you have these things.
However, for PS4/PS5 Playstation Plus is required due to Sony being more strict.
The Discord server is just about to hit 100k members and is a good place to chat about the game, ask questions and hear about updates etc.
The community is very nice and always willing to help if you're confused on something or just want to know more about the game or things surrounding it. The Discord server also has other more general chats if you want to chat about other games, general entertainment, etc.
The game is free to play! So go ahead and give it a shot on your preferred platform of those 5 if you want, since if you don't like it you haven't spent anything on it.
