Because PR2 has been around for a long time and people eventually got bored of it and moved on to other things. There are plenty of appealing free-to-play games nowadays that offer a lot more than what a 2D platformer like PR2 can, and when people start leaving PR2, you get into a cycle where the game will gradually die off.
