For what it’s worth for the artifact hat, it’s essentially worthless.

Even though I’ve never played in the tournament, I think it’s a great way to challenge people and test their racing skills.

Even though I’ve never played in the tournament, I think it looks pretty dull and boring.

🌵GGP THOUGHTS 🌵🤔
#5
To add to what has been said by @Master Raiden already, the contest went through a few different concepts and formats over the years (since June 2013 actually, it's been a while hehe). The goal was always to reward RACING in a game called Platform Racing 2 via competition, not only against others, but also in regards of improving your own skills.

Now I'm not saying the current mold is perfect (I know I probably still have to embellish the info page @EpicMidget don't worry Tongue). Back in the day, even with 12 judges across mutliple timezones to witness runs, it would still take sometimes 2-3 hours daily to get everything done. And then we ran into the problems and scandals, so the forum solution is what I came up with to avoid most cheating cases and facilitate archiving at the same time.

As for the content of the contest, I tried to put myself in the shoes of a relatively new beginner who had to take on the challenge after completing the campaign, maybe. Yes, there are tougher goals to achieve as you progress, but the first few tiers of target times and medals are reachable for the average skilled enjoyer of the game. And the tournament stats makes it so it's not about glitch/stat knowledge, but pure racing lines and execution.

The daily attempt per cup might be an old relic, I agree with some arguments that have been made against it over the years (it used to be even worse, now you could even beat the whole contest in one day theoritically), but I've always viewed the other side of the coin: this contest has roots in speedrunning and racing, where you often only get 1 real chance to show all the preparation and practice you've put into it. After that it's a reset and a new run to begin later, but if you succeed, it's a little extra rewarding.

Is GGPD a bit tedious ? Could it be tougher ? Could it be way longer ? Yep, but I'm not sure it would forge the same consistency and skill it does now if you had unlimited attempts at a harsher goal on hundreds of levels. Maybe if the intention of the contest was to push speedrunning in this game to greater extents, but like I said before I prefer to view it as the next step after campaign, and an entry point to greater skill.

Feel free to suggest modifications or share extra concerns though, I've never been closed to those things. Even if it's for a future community PR4 edition, or ideas for a sister contest that would be more difficult.
If you're reading this, it means I have not made a cool signature yet and you should be proud of yourself.
