What kept me coming back to the original JV was a combination of Jiggmin frequently putting out new stuff (like PR3, Futurism and Motley Monday), the meta aspects of the forum (all the random memes we had and shenanigans people got up to, JV comics, etc.) and - most importantly - all the cool people I'd met and friends I'd made. For a while I used to get something out of coming on JV2 and wasting my time typing away for hours, but now I'm part of other communities that give me healthier ways to spend my time. In my opinion, JV2 has never really been able to capture the sense of community and fun that the original forums had, and if you think about it this maybe isn't so surprising.
Look at this place: this entire website is like a historical diorama, it's a snapshot designed to crudely imitate the way things used to be. The purpose of JV2 was never to foster a thriving community, it has always been primarily to serve as an archival project. It has never aspired to be anything more than some kind of Jiggmin museum (or rather, a Platform Racing museum). And don't get me wrong, it's decent at being that, but unless you really, really love PR2 or PR3 there will never be anything here for you.
Most of the people that made the original community so fun and interesting (for me at least) splintered off into the Acid community, which I see as the "true" successor to the original JV. As for stuff like PR4, well... it's essentially being gatekept by the JV2 Discord, which was an alt-right cesspool last time I checked. It's an unfortunate situation all around, but that's just how things are I guess.
