This makes me think that it may have something to do with the player having upward trajectory while finishing-- perhaps in the middle of a jump or on an arrow block. Sort of like how in sim levels how all the hats can get removed at the end, except I think that the player can still get hats during that period too.
That makes this really complicated on my end. Like I said, a lot of sim levels remove the hats at the end, using the player's momentum and trajectory to propel them to hit the bombs. If I patched this, all hell would break loose. I think the way to go would be to not allow players to pick up the hats, while still allowing them to be dropped.
More testing on the first point would be much appreciated. 🙏🏻
