They are game worlds, not story worlds basically.

I don't mind that at all. Mario does that for most of its 3D games and I find that enjoyable.

But it does make the addition of NPCs feel off-putting. Why can we talk to NPCs if there is no world for them to talk about?

The plight of the woollies would have felt more believable if there actually was a world.

It feels like the game was made with fanfiction in mind. Like the writers wanted the fanfiction writers to finish writing the story for them.

And who knows, they probably will. There probably is some crazy Bubsy fangirl out there willing to type out a 10k word fanfic of Bubsy 4D.

And I feel like this is one of those games that probably won't really be remembered in the future. It will be kind of a weird footnote, unless it is made into a series.

Will it be made into a series? I kind of doubt it. While the groundwork is there, the dev team didn't add that much content.
