Restart / Update Message
#1
So, as I very recently witnessed people seemed displeased with the current unscheduled and rather spontaneous server restarts as they're quite often in the middle of doing something and obviously don't want to lose progress.

So here's what you should do, run either an automated script or possibly just implement a command that will display a global message (similar to the Happy hour trigger message) in chat a set amount of time before any server restarts ,updates or general downtime will be occurring.
Something along the lines of "Server restart imminent please save any progress" should work perfectly fine.

This will eliminate both player frustration due to losing potentially hours of progress and the burden of staff who then have to deal with said irate players thus improving the general happiness of the community.

it's a simple idea really and I'm quite surprised that it wasn't done sooner, however do with this suggestion as you wish.

When a server needs to be restarted, it's usually for a quick issue fix. Because this is the case, we often don't know too far in advance when we will need to restart a server. That being said, we are mindful of how often we are restarting servers manually.
