The reason thanks are currently disabled in blog posts is purely based on the fact that original JV didn't allow thanks in blogs. I suppose my supplemental reasoning was that blog posts and replies don't count towards a user's post count… but that reasoning falls through when someone points out that Village Games has thanks allowed but not post count incrementation.
So: allow thanks in blogs?
