Platform Racing 2 Rules
#1
You asked for rules, we delivered!

I want to make it clear that this thread can in no way cover all possible rules and issues the PR2 staff may discipline users for. This thread aims to cover as many offenses as possible and provide users with a clearer understanding of what is and isn’t appropriate behavior for Platform Racing 2.

Moderators are allowed to use their own discretion to decide on how they choose to handle particular cases, issues, and bans. This may result in some disciplinary actions being more lenient, or more strict, and likewise, some rule breaches being handled differently and some new issues requiring disciplinary action being identified. While we do aim for consistency, these differences will continue to exist. However, if you feel you have been treated unfairly, you are always welcome to appeal your ban (see useful links at the end of this thread).  In this case, the staff will discuss your specific circumstances.

Now, on to the rules!
I have split this into 3 sections (with an extra notice), though many of the rules in each section can overlap into others. These rules apply in all aspects of the game, whether they are listed under each heading or not.
- Gameplay rules
- PM offenses
- In-chat offenses
- Account safety (trading, buying, selling, sharing)

Gameplay rules: ways in which you shouldn’t play the game.

1) No Cheating, or encouraging/teaching others how to cheat.
This is the big one. Cheating is defined on PR2 as using any third-party program that gives you an unfair advantage over other players. This includes (but is not limited to) hacking. So, to clarify...

2) No Hacking.
Ban length on first offense: 1 month.

3) No purposefully modifying the artifact level.
This is a very limited rule applied especially to the authors of levels selected to host the artifact hat. Modifying the level in a way which negatively alters the way it was played originally when selected by the staff (e.g. making it unbeatable), is punishable as it shows a clear intention of wanting to ruin everyone’s fun. Don’t do it.
Ban length on first offense: discretionary; varies.

4) No creating inappropriate levels.
This includes, but is not limited to, inappropriate/swear words in the title, description, or level. Pornographic imagery. Insulting or user-targeting material. Scamming, or asking for passwords in any form. Level copying without permission. Republishing levels removed by Moderators.
Ban length on first offense: 1 week.
*note, also copying someone else's level and publishing it is against the rules when the original author has expressed (evidently) their disapproval of it being copied, or where credit to the original creator is not given.

5) No threatening or targeting other users.
Stalking and harassing players in the game is a big no-no. Whatever reason or issue you have with a person, you should take it to the Moderators.
Ban length on first offense: 1 hour.

6) No level blocking.
Filling a slot in levels repeatedly and refusing to play is annoying. Don’t do it.
Ban length on first offense: 30 minute kick.

7) No macroing on the campaign tab.
Albeit a niche rule, macroing is not allowed on the campaign tab.
Ban length on first offense: 1 week.

8) No spamming levels.
We understand that with PR2’s declining activity, Newest can be quite inactive for hours and hours, and you might want to publish a few levels. Mods will use their discretion to determine the difference.
Ban length on first offense: 1 hour.

9) No inappropriate names.
This includes names that are rude, are inappropriate, or impersonate another user.
Ban length on first offense: Immediate year ban on the account, with the possibility of a 1 day to 1 week IP ban depending on the severity of the offense.
*note, creating an account and impersonating a member of staff is a more serious issue. While staff members may individually handle a situation like this differently, generally impersonating a staff member could warrant you a month ban immediately.

10) No blackmailing or distributing the personal info/content of other players.
Blackmailing players or spreading their personal info that they have expressed they do not want to be shared is a form of harassment, and will not be tolerated.
Ban length on first offense: 1 week.

11) No framing.
Do not frame users in any way. This includes modifying PM formats, falsifying screenshots, or manipulating video evidence.
Ban length on first offense: varies, will usually be the same length or greater of the offense you attempted to frame a user for.

12) No ban evading.
If you get dealt a ban, deal with it. Do not ban evade. If you are caught ban evading you will receive an even greater ban and it’s not worth it.
Ban length on first offense: varies; 1 year.
*Note, in some cases, moderators may be willing to overlook ban evasion if you remain well behaved. However, violating the rules while ban evading will result in greater consequences and less leniency.
**We're human, and sometimes we'll make mistakes. If you feel a ban may turn out to be unjustified, please remain patient while your ban appeal is in progress. Ban evading during this time will result in more severe consequences.

13) No illegal activities.
While we hope this is obvious and should go without saying, no illegal activities are to be conducted on or through PR2. This includes things like DoS/DDoS attacks.
Ban length on first offense: discretionary; varies.

PM offenses: things not to do when using the private messaging system in PR2.

1) No being rude.
Do not PM other players to be rude and insult them. As the words at the bottom of the chat say, “be nice.”
Ban length on first offense: 1 day.

2) Do not filter evade.
Filters still apply in PMs, and even if you have your filter disabled, other users may not. Please do not evade the filter.
Ban length on first offense: 1 day.
*note: to clarify, swearing at a user but filtering the word is still not ok. You are still being rude.

3) Do not ask for passwords.
Asking for passwords in any form (including asking to trade or share accounts) is not allowed.
Ban length on first offense: 1 day.

4) Do not scam.
Scamming in any way is not allowed. This is tricking a user into revealing or doing something under false pretenses (e.g. "give me your password and I’ll get you crown hat").
Ban length on first offense: 1 week.
*note, a combination of impersonation and scamming, e.g. claiming to be a staff member to trick a user into revealing their password, will result in greater consequences.

5) No inappropriate messages or requests.
Sending, requesting, or engaging in inappropriate messages/content in PMs is not acceptable.  Additionally, cybering is not allowed.
Ban length on first offense: 1 day; if any type of pornographic material is included, it will be 1 week.

6) No requesting or sharing cheating methods.
Asking how to hack/cheat, or sharing how to, implies that you intend to engage in that activity, are encouraging others to, or do engage in that activity.
Ban length on first offense: 1 month or 1 year.

7) No malicious/misleading/inappropriate links.
Links designed to trick users, or which otherwise hold malicious or dangerous content are inappropriate.
Ban length on first offense: 1 day, or 1 week.

8) No hateful PMs.
Sending hateful PMs, directed at the recipient or about another user is not acceptable.
Ban length on first offense: 1 day.

In-chat offenses: an expansion of "No swearing. No flooding. Be nice Smile"
Note that moderators will usually give you two warnings before a ban. However, there are some instances where certain offenses warrant an outright ban.

1) No swearing.
While the filter is optional, filter evading is never permitted and neither is swearing at other users. Overuse of swearing may also become an issue.
Ban length on first offense: 1 hour.
*note, excessive use of manually typed filtered words will warrant the same consequence as if it is a regularly filtered swear. To give you a better idea:
(8th January 2018, 8:22 PM)bls1999 Wrote:  - Filter evading is always against the rules
 - Swearing is okay if filtered and not at another user or group of people (i.e. "fooeying cooler races suck" would be against the rules, but "i can't believe i fooeyed that up" wouldn't)
 - Excessive swearing (if otherwise against the rules) would be treated as if it was spam/flooding.

2) No flooding.
No spamming the chat. Spam is generally defined as 3+ messages which are repeated or meaningless. Depending on the situation, Moderators may expand on the definition of what classifies as spamming the chat.
Ban length on first offense: 1 hour.

3) Be nice.
Be nice to all users and do not insult, flame, troll or be rude.
Ban length on first offense: 1 hour.
*note, often all these offenses can come under the ban reason of "bad chatting," hence your list of priors could be greater than you think.

4) No languages other than English in the main chat.
In order to moderate the chat, we must be able to understand what is being said. For this reason, we ask you to please refrain from using languages other than English in the main room. If you would like to speak another language to fellow racers you are welcomed to make a new chat room.
Ban length on first offense: discretionary; varies.

5) No asking for passwords.
Do not ask for other users passwords, in any way or form.
Ban length on first offense: 30 minute kick or 1 day.

6) No scamming.
Do not trick other users into revealing their passwords, or any other types of scams.
Ban length on first offense: 1 week.

7) No impersonating others.
Do not impersonate other people. Moderators can see IPs and will be able to tell if you are misleading people. Most importantly, do not impersonate any members of the staff or staff entities, this carries heavier consequences.
Ban length on first offense: discretionary; can be 30 minute kick or 1 day.

8) No harassment.
Do not harass any users in the chat. We come to the chat for a good time and to chat with one another, not to be badgered and annoyed.
Ban length on first offense: 1 hour.

9) No zalgo.
Posting zalgo isn’t just annoying, it can cause some people’s game/chat to break.
Ban length on first offense: 1 hour, or 1 day.

10) No harmful or dangerous discussions.
Any discussions that encourage, promote or identify dangerous and harmful behaviors are not permitted. This includes but is not limited to discussions about harmful substances, risk-taking behaviors, and suicide.
Ban length on first offense: 1 hour.

11) No inappropriate content.
No inappropriate discussions, requests or links/posts. This includes cybering, and links that contain shock, gore, or pornographic content (be careful if the page you are posting has inappropriate ads!).
Ban length on first offense: discretionary.
*note, what may be considered inappropriate content can be determined independently by an individual moderator (in other words, discretionary). Some words when used in context (e.g. dick, vagina, etc.) may be fine but ultimately will depend on the moderator watching the chat.

12) No malicious/misleading/inappropriate links.
Links designed to trick users, or which otherwise hold malicious or dangerous content are inappropriate.
Ban length on first offense: 1 day, or 1 week.

13) No warn evasion or ban evasion.
Do not evade chat warnings or bans given by staff. Take responsibility for your actions, or you may receive heavier consequences.
Ban length on first offense: discretionary; varies.

14) No sharing/giving away accounts.
While we can't enforce this privately, we don't allow users to give away or offer their accounts to a public chatroom.
Ban length on first offense: 1 hour, or 1 day.

Account Safety

Finally, when it comes to people who choose to trade, sell, buy, or share their accounts, we want to make it clear that the staff does not condone this behavior. Account trading is not encouraged, enforced, helped or otherwise managed by the staff, and if you get scammed, or land into any other issues in the process of buying, selling or exchanging accounts, you're on your own.

Thank you for reading! The staff will do their best to keep this thread updated when rules change or things need to be clarified, so feel free to post if you have any questions or requests. Big Grin

Once again, I would like to reiterate that not everything is covered by this thread, and staff members have the power to act on new cases and issues as they see fit. The PR2 staff reserves the right to modify these rules at any time.
