Welcome to Duck Season!
I’ll bring the platforms if you bring the racing.
A prize supported Speed Running event is upon us! Only a silly goose would pass up on these challenges and the prizes they reward. Each level is published under the profile "The Duck", and there may even be a Deathmatch and Hat Attack worth doing while we are at it.
Early this year, I started making The Duck Campaign, so this is its' end of year celebration. There are 32 levels in the series as of the making of this contest. I'm excited to see them get thoroughly destroyed.
Event Schedule and Structure:
There will be 3 parts of Duck Season over 3 weeks, where prizes will be earned each week and awarded at the conclusion of the event.
Week 1: Right Now-Sunday, December 29th
Week 2: Monday, December 30th-Sunday, January 5th
Week 3: Monday, January 6th-Sunday, January 12th
All submitted times must be in by each Monday, 7AM Mountain Standard Time (the 30th, 6th and 13th) . This will hopefully allow for late night players and time zone differences.
Links to Videos of the top 5 speedruns performed on each level at the end of each week will be linked on the updated leaderboard and will be awarded with prizes at the end of the event. The event leaderboard will be updated each Monday (once I get it all put together), so be sure to check back in and see what the other racers are cooking up. Any runs that become inaccessible to view at any point of the event will be disqualified.
Recording a Run: Record a video of the run and upload it to YouTube, public or unlisted. Then link the run in your spreadsheet as well as posting the time stated from the “In Game Timer”. If the clip of the run is in a longer uploaded video, please have the link given be a timestamp to bring the judge to the right time in the video.
Submitting Your Runs: Please make a copy of This Sheets Document and fill it out as you compete. Add your name to the title of your copy of the sheet. Your sheet will be due before Monday at 7AM MST each week. To submit your sheet, send a copy to [email protected].
Rules and Restrictions:
-There is a 200 Stat Total limit to help accessibility, this can be achieved at level 50 or using the extra stats from Happy Hour. You may distribute them however you would like.
-Must enter as player 1 and be the only player in the level.
-No clipping through blocks or use of other unintended glitches.
-No Super Flying Cowboy Mode (besides the cowboy level) (The levels are set to trigger it 1% of the time)
-Any hat that is not banned by the level itself is legal. Cowboy and Artifact are banned on all levels for accessibility issues.
-Updates to rules may change during the event, but only to make things easier or add more prize support if the need arises based on player feedback. None of your progress will be undone.
-No trying to beat the rules or the system. Be nice, I’m just a duck after all…
-Consider rating levels that you enjoy 5 stars. Or not. But at least consider considering it.
Prize Structure:
There will be points earned throughout the event that will give out points. At the end of Duck Season, you will receive 100,000 Experience for each Point you earn.
At the end of each week, the following points will be given out for each of the 30 competitive levels:
1st, 5 points and 1 World Record
2nd, 4 points
3rd, 3 points
4th, 2 points
5th, 1 point
(That means that 135,000,000 exp will be awarded this way!)
At the end of the event, racers will be awarded the following parts based on the number of World Records that they obtained.
1 or more World Records: Epic Candy Head
3 or more World Records: Epic Bird Set
5 or more World Records: Epic Blobfish Head
For each level that you complete and submit a run for by the end of the event, you get 1 point. (Playing through each level, filling out and submitting the sheet will earn you an easy 3,000,000 exp.)
Each level has a “Duck Time” for you to try to beat. Each Duck Time that you beat will award you 3 points. (9,000,000 exp if you can beat them all.)
At the end of the event, your Cumulative Time will be added up and the top 20 finishers will be awarded with (Cumulative time will only count if you have submitted a run on each level. It will be your fastest time on each level+50 seconds-1 second for every egg you obtain on 2.9 Alien Egg):
1st: 60 points and The Epic Artifact Hat
2nd: 57 points
3rd: 54 points
… and so on
