I’d figure out a way to pay for everything because they did pay my way, seven times. I’d feel guilty and embarrassed to doing the same for them.

Are you kidding me??! I can’t afford to pay for all that. I’d tell their sorry assets to pay their own, damn way! Treat me again, I’m poor for goodness sake!

I’d politely tell them that I can no longer be friends with them anymore because it’s not fair that they stuck this really expensive bill on me; it’s a burden.

I gotta say… the smart ass comments about me being broke is highly disrespectful. They should have asked me about my situation (not assuming I’m rich) and just go without me.

I’d rather wash dishes or get thrown in jail than to pay for that shit.

🍽️🍷🍾 DINE OUT 💳💰🤔

Tl;dr: Your friends have decided that it’s your turn to pay for everyone’s meals at a fancy restaurant. Check out the bill at the bottom of the page. How are you gonna pay for all that? Also, check out the mad flex that your friends threw up in your face before they invited you for the eighth time.

When’s the last time your friends have invited you to dinner at a fancy restaurant over the weekend? It sounds nice because the food is delicious, the restaurant is classy, and the decor is top tier. Even the waitresses are incredibly friendly and professional. Your friends tell you to show up in your best suit because it’s that kind of restaurant. You’ve never heard of it before, you don’t know what kind of food they serve, and you don’t know how expensive it is. Even if you’re working a corporate job and your employer has invited you to dinner with the rest of the employees, then you know what I’m talking about.

Keep in mind that you haven’t seen your friends since high school, and now you guys have been catching up for the past two months. So now the only problem is that your friends have just started a tradition where one different person pays for everyone’s meals each time they all go out. Excuse me??! Yup, you read me right. One different person is taking turns paying for everyone’s meals each time they all go out. Normally you guys have been going to an affordable restaurant and paying for your own meals. But now recently, things have changed and you were left wondering why your friends were treating you to these fancy and classy restaurants all of a sudden.

Since you guys have recently reconnected, they’ve told you what they do for a living, but no one’s ever told you how much money they make. Corporate jobs, big businesses, sales jobs, doctors, lawyers, etc. You’re obviously outclassed and pushed to the lower end of the spectrum compared to them. Even everyone’s suits, clothes, and cars are nicer than yours. So and so pulled up in a Rolls Royce, Bugatti Chiron, Aston Martin, etc.

So now considering the meals, it’s your turn to pay for everyone’s meals. But the prices are far too outrageous for you to handle. Your wallet is only $50. It’s tough because you love your friends and they’re like family to you. Now before we view this menu’s ridiculous prices, you should know that there are 8 of you guys.

Here’s a breakdown of the menu based on what everyone ordered:

đź’°Steak: $200 pp (X5) = $1,000
đź’°Beef Wellington: $120 pp (X3) = $360
đź’°Chateau Palmer Wine: $2500 pp (X2) = $5,000
đź’°Dominus 2012 Napa Valley: $375 pp (X2) = $750
đź’°Pavillon Blanc White Wine: $850 pp (X2) = $1,700
đź’°Chateau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac, 2010: $1,500 pp (X1) = $1,500
đź’°Caviar: $250 pp (X7) = $1,750
đź’°Rack of lamb: $500 pp (X3) = $1,500
đź’°Tuscan Vegetable Soup: $60 pp (X4) = $240
đź’°Lobster: $250 pp (X2) = $500
đź’°Oysters (Dozen): $60 pp (X2) = $120
đź’°Truffle Risotto: $150 pp (X3) = $450
đź’°Duck Foie Gras: $125 pp (X3) = $375
đź’°Salmon (Wild Caught): $300 pp (X2) = $600
đź’°Shrimp Ceviche: $90 pp (X3) = $270
💰Cheese and leek Soufflé: $50 pp (X1) = $50
đź’°Lobster Macaroni and cheese casserole: $70 pp (X4) = $280
đź’°Dark chocolate molten lava cake: $75 pp (X7) = $525
đź’°Caramel Flan: $75 pp (X3) = $225
đź’°Tomato Galette: $55 pp (X5) = $275

Total before tax and tips: $17,470.00

Sales Tax: 30% = 0.3 x 100

Tip: 25% = 0.25 x 100

Number of people: 8

Final price: $28,388.75

Bonus - Flex stats (what your friends paid each time you guys went out):

Look at these prices, man! Who the hell can afford to pay for all that stuff for 8 people, by themselves?! The cheapest thing on this menu is the Cheese and leek Soufflé! This is what you ordered because it’s all you have! That, and a glass of water. All the other stuff is what your friends ordered. Oh and btw, your friends make twice that amount every month. What are you gonna do, tell them that you don’t have the money? You’ll look bad. They’re under the impression that you’re rollin’ in the dough like that.

Everyone’s making smart ass comments about how you’re a broke boy/girl, why are we friends with this loser, who brought him/her along, what kind of man/woman are you, what a freeloader, $28k is cheap compared to what we’ve been paying for his/her sorry cheap ass, yeah you would order the cheapest thing on the menu, etc.

Guys, I don’t know what we’re going to do here. How do we solve this problem when everyone (including the waitress) is looking at you to pay the bill? Even the manager and the chefs have stopped what they’re doing to come to your table and wait for you to pay the bill. That last part is a little exaggerated, but it can happen. Anyways, how do we solve this issue?

It's pretty unfair to be eating fancy food off everyone else's wallets then say that you can't afford to pay the bill when it's your turn, so I would have gotten out when I heard that each person takes turns paying for the entire meal, especially if they are in a much better financial situation than I am.

I agree because for one thing, they didn’t even ask you how you’d feel about it. 2. Who does stuff like that, paying $28k for everyone’s meals, honestly. So now knowing that you’d walk out on them after you heard that, what if they say that you’re not friends with them anymore (along with the smart ass comments about you being poor)? Remember, these are best friends since high school.

Why wouldn't everyone just pay for their own stuff every time? You get an expensive thing, you pay for an expensive thing. You get a cheap thing, you pay for a cheap thing.
Also ngl if you get yourself into a situation where you're trying to seem rich to other people and you're really not, then that's gonna backfire at some point and this is the point, the person who can't pay is gonna have to own up and face the consequences (it will probably end with the others having to split the bill in terms of the financial aspect). Plus the bonus saying everyone takes turns for paying for the whole thing (still weird to me) should've let the person who can't pay know far, far in advance that this was coming and yet nothing was done on their part to stop it.

With friends like that, who needs enemies? Honestly, I would cut ties with people that screwed me over like that.

I am a pro dishwasher, so the question is how many dishes would I have to wash to work off a $28k tab?

doesn’t a sales tax of 30% seem pretty unrealistic, where is that the case? Also on a bill that large, I am not blindly tipping 25%, I’d probably tip a flat rate of $1000, if the service was out of this world maybe more

It would be much more convenient if everyone did pay for their own meals all the time, you’re right. But this is a classic, worst cast scenario where they’re just trying to flex on each other and brag about how much money they have. Also yes, I agree that “trying to seem rich to other people” will definitely “backfire” eventually. Everyone else is rich except for you, so you spend a 3rd of your life’s savings (while renting a tuxedo) to attempt to compete with them. That’s the part that I forgot to put in there.

At least 28k dishes, lol! But yeah bro, I’d cut ties too especially if I can’t pay for just my meal, alone.

It is unrealistic over here in America, so it might be a little bit exaggerated. But let’s just say that hypothetically, you were to run into a situation like that. $1,000? Now this is assuming that you do have the money. But let’s say that you don’t have it and they just sprung it up on you at the last minute. Now what? You only have $50.
