  Usernames with & show weirdly in chat

  Guilds

Ok, there are 2 issues with guilds I have found.

1. Sending guild invites doesn't work, there is no error but the user does not receive a PM.

2. Leaving guilds does not work. Upon leaving it says Invalid request method but it changes your guild to none on your account page. However, you haven't actually left the guild and if you log out and back in or go to players tab it shows you still in the guild.

  Some Level Editor Additions

PR2's level editor is perfectly serviceable, but there are some additions I wish were added for the ease of the user. 
Here's a few mock-ups of said suggestions:

1) Art Selection

Notice the little dotted square. This is my first suggestion: a selection tool. First, draw the thing you want moved. Then, click on the selection icon, and drag over the thing.

This would select the area. Then, using the power of your cursor...

...the selected art would move to where you placed it! This would make it so that you don't have to be extra-precise when drawing something.

2) Different Brush Styles

Notice the little drop-down arrow near the Brush icon? This would allow you to choose from different kinds of brushes, allowing you more kinds of designs with your lines. Perhaps there would be a space where you could "design" your own brush? Or, perhaps you could also just add an option to make your own stamps? Either or would be cool.


3) Color Alpha

Here's a feature from PR3 I want retrofitted into PR2. There would be a slider somewhere, and changing it would change the transparency of your brush. I'm not sure if it would be an easy addition (I don't know a lick of programming), but it would be appreciated, nonetheless. It would allow you to draw clear and opaque things and the many kinds of things in between.

4) Bulk Block Placement

Another thing from PR3 (though I think the feature itself was added in PR3R). Holding the CTRL key with a block selected and dragging out to form a rectangle would fill that rectangle with blocks. I tried taking a photo of the selection rectangle itself but even when using my feet I was unable to hold all of those buttons together and take a shot.

This would be useful for bulk block placement, so you don't need to spend all that time meticulously putting down each one! This also could apply to the X block, deleting all blocks within a selection.

5) Better Layers

I don't like this. Only having so few layers feels so lame! I want more layers! And I don't want them all pre-set like this!

Now look at this, from PR3:

I want this! I can make as many layers as I want! And, I can change their depth - meaning that they can go behind or in front of blocks as I please! Not only that, I can also change their transparency!
So many layers. It's like an onion. 

Adding a layer system like PR3's may be cumbersome - but what I recommend is that levels that utilize the old system of layers just have multiple "installed" layers with the new system, so everything works as it should. Hopefully.

Anyways, that's about it for now. Gameplay-wise, I'm sure there are some nice additions could be made - but these suggestions outlined here would make the level editor easier to use in general, at least I think. Anything else about the level editor you want changed up?

Things that could make the set better

  • Have preset pics/drawings on the face (People could submit them and could eventually be in game so people could use them)
  • Have the face be your jv2 or kong profile pic

So basically this set was from the game Creation by Jiggmin but I just remade it Smile

If you're an artist that would like to submit part(s) to be added to PR2, I'll be more likely to consider your idea if it is accompanied with graphics in an easily addable format. What's that format? This video has you covered:



* One small correction: the colorMC2 layer doesn't appear at all if the epic upgrade isn't active. Be sure to design your parts for both the epic and regular versions.

Note: Please post submissions in a separate thread.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and I'll try to help. I believe using any vector graphics format will preserve the layers well enough for me to import, but the best format you can give me is an FLA document with those layers.

  Player quality lowers while rotating

Idk if this is really a bug but it kinda just looks weird and is another cosmetic bug tbh.
Also, I'm not 100% sure if this happened before but maybe I'm just blind.

Edit: just noticed it's not just the player quality and the quality also changes if you look top left.

Lightbulb Widescreen mode / Adding support for different aspect ratios

Having a widescreen mode would be a nice addition.
So that you can get a wider view of the level that you are playing.
And so that the game fills up your screen properly when you are playing in full screen.
Since most monitors are widescreen it makes a lot of sense.

It's finally here! Below is the full changelog. I'm in the process of fixing some of the release bugs, so please bear with us. ?



Additions easily noticable by users:
- Made chat commands case-insensitive at the client level
- Guests can now use chat commands (view, guild, hint)
- Changed Fred the G. Cactus' artifact hint name color to admin purple
- Added detection of Guests to the player popup triggered by /view (will trigger the Guest popup instead)
- Using device fonts in more places (race chats, PMs) to unbreak some special characters
- Added verification measures to logout.php. As a result, the client now requires a password to log out if the user hasn't logged into the client instance at least once to prevent an exploit that involuntarily logs users out
- Added back "NEVER give your password to ANYONE" message on PM box
- Added a "random" option for music selection in LE (so you can return to random if you have already selected a song)
- Added page navigation to Campaign (for easier explanation re: Kong badges; default page changes instead of only accessible campaign) click for demo
- Added play as guest confirmation message if already logged in (prevent frustration due to accidental clicks)
- Added /pm command to chat
- Added gecko set
- Moved yeah.mp3 (artifact pickup sound) to the client instead of requesting from http://cdn.jiggmin.com/games/platform-racing-2/yeah.mp3 every time

Additions noticable to staff:
- Mods now edit a guild instead of deleting. Admins still have a button to delete.
- Fixed ban durations
- Added confirmation to de-mod button
- GUI changes to ban/admin menu placement (wonky placement fixed)
- Removed 1-min ban and replaced with 30-min kick on trial/perma mod menu
- Emblems can be "deleted" from the guild edit menu (deleting an emblem doesn't delete it from the server. I'm planning on making a script that lets admins find all emblems uploaded by a user-- or lets a user find all emblems they've uploaded)
- Client now detects mod type and group when promoting/demoting
- Trials now can't see and/or click some buttons permanent mods can (higher ban buttons, unpublish level button, edit guild button)
- Made PlaceArtifact.as listen for a response from place_artifact.php (now echoes a confirmation without `talk_to_server`)

Easily noticable bug fixes:
- Fixed prize popup flavor text
- Fixed KongAPI for Guests (this will let us get PR2 featured on Kong!)
- Misc chat fixes (namely scrollbar glitches)
- Fixed game sounds restarting if you haven't chosen a new song when the song selection menu closes (Event.CHANGE instead of Event.CLOSE)
- Publishing a level with draw backgrounds off no longer removes all art on a course
- Fixed truly invisible and bubble feet (no more sir feet outline)
- Fixed bug where levels would appear below the clickable area and make course menus appear at the bottom of the screen
- Fixed "Return to Lobby" button bringing user to a broken lobby page if not connected (due to disconnect)
- Fixed item glitch (lets you get any item you want on a level; click for demo)
- Fixed speed burst slow down sound playing when an item block is bumped (while speed burst isn't active)
- Fixed forfeit while drawing behavior (still shows the name of the forfeiter after the race starts)
- Fixed bug where EXP bar wouldn't show under certain circumstances

Cosmetic edits:
- Made save level graphic a bit smaller (no need to be so large)
- Made LE music selection graphic a bit more cosmetically pleasing
- Kong logo was updated (higher quality, slightly different but awfully similar)
- Level info popups no longer show a line on the bottom if there's no description
- Font for mouseover popups (level info, etc) is now arial instead of times new roman
- Changed chatroom count (?) mouseover popup to only read "room - num" instead of showing "online" after the number.
- Made email popup smaller so it's the same size as the change password one
- Tweaked LE settings buttons' language and ui
- Fixed rotate left block description typo
- Fixed cosmetic bug where chatroom names in rooms info popup would sometimes display two different fonts
- Included author with we are loud

Other misc. additions & fixes:
- Escape more text at client-level
- Sound quality export settings updated
- Added guild name to confirming deletion of a guild
- Removed page memory from Campaign upon logout (to allow the default Campaign pages to take effect when a user logs in)
- Cleaned IOError result from SuperLoader::IOErrorHandler (no double "Error" on flash error code)
- Fixed UploadingPopup not going away after IOError occurs
- Converted assorted files to JSON
- Guild menu now closes if open with a player popup when "View Levels" is clicked
- Trying to view a player that doesn't exist closes that player menu instead of loading indefinitely



Goals:
- Add new use for the moon hat
- Add more sets
- Revive community update suggestions (modern Motley Monday)
- Rename and organize more of the folders, classes/files, and variables
