QoL Additions/Suggestions

I wanted to share some quality of life suggestions:

- Enable user to click through Chat/PMs/Friends while queued for a match. Disable function when a player selects "ready" so as to draw user focus back to their queue.

- Remove 10 second time limit on kicking Guild members or enable users to kick multiple Guild members at a single time (check box, etc.).

- Add a "reset" button on the level search tab so as to clear the tab from searches.

- Disable level voting for players who forfeit a match (I'm guilty of this myself).

- Enable RNG to check whether or not all players already have the item that the RNG is about to offer. Perhaps this could be done by having RNG roll after players have queued into the lobby or have all pressed play. I imagine this would only delay loading by a few seconds. If you don't wanna do that then maybe just give the winning player an EXP bonus if they win and already have that item.

- Allow players to play all Campaigns on the same server. Maybe enable pages on the Campaign tab? Having them arranged in sequential order would be nice too.

- Display original publication date for levels. Example: Newbieland 2's date says 2013...

- Enable users to change their username every 90 days.

- Alter EXP formula to be more respectful of players' time. I can think of a few valid reasons to do this now. The player count just isn't there anymore. The exponential becomes frankly ludicrous after level 30. Maybe alter the formula up to Rank 50 and then leave the default formula after that so as to not ruin the lives of the people who have been simming for the past 10 years.

- Fix F@H rank up tokens. Also can the max amount of rank up tokens be an even number like 10?  Big Grin

Not a QoL suggestion, but an RGB color change default set would be cool.

- Only allow a unique IP address to vote on a level twice a week instead of basing it on user accounts (I say twice because you may play with your sibling or loved one).

- Change Week's Best tab to reflect the LOTW competition.

- Add an "Are you sure?" prompt when clicking the character customization randomizer (I also noticed that the randomizer seemingly doesn't use the entire color spectrum on hand. It prefers dark colors).

This is already a thing.

Good idea. It's annoying how you lose your spot as soon as you click away. There is a trick to stay in the level slot forever though.

This would be nice as well. I don't get why we have to wait 10 whole seconds to kick guild members or delete levels.
The daily level deletion limit is also pretty annoying.

I don't see the point of this. You can always clear the search bar, and the Search tab will be empty the next time you go to it.

This has been brought up before, and there are situations where this isn't viable.

Yeah, I'd like to see the EXP prize be added back in if you win a part/hat that you already have. It used to be a thing, but I think it was removed due to botters abusing it.
That might be why Volcanic Inferno by Pounce has over 337 million plays.

This would be nice, but such data is not recorded so it will never happen Frown

(Yesterday, 4:25 AM)Vibj Wrote: - Enable users to change their username every 90 days.
I think this will make things confusing since it will be a lot harder to keep track of who's who. It also makes it easier for people to steal someone else's username and impersonate them, so I don't think this will happen.
Usernames have been changed before, but only in exceptional circumstances.

Rank 50 isn't very high since EXP is easier to earn than ever before. You have the Welcome Back Bonus, Artifact EXP bonus, huge EXP prizes from contests and much more.
Someone once went from Rank 39 to 51 just from playing a single contest!

If you are worried about accidentally clicking it, you can just save your current style in a loadout and load it if you accidentally randomize your style.

IP checks are already in place to limit IPs to one vote per week.
You can check out the Platform Racing 2 Server on GitHub if you want to learn more about how certain things work.

LotW is not based on the 5-star level rating system. It is a separate contest featuring user-submitted levels.

After discussion in the JV Discord, I would like to add some hypothetical safeguards and more reasoning for the more controversial suggestions:

- Name changes: Perhaps we could potentially add "Known Aliases" that display the previous 5 usernames of that specific account, while also retaining the 90 day username change restriction. 450 days is a long time for someone to figure out who you are. Due to the nature of high rank accounts at this stage, perhaps we could also add time restrictions for changing email addresses, and also add checkmarks next to email verified accounts that have also existed for "x' amount of days, like we already do with the Bubble Set. My biggest issue with the arguments against this is that someone can easily make an alt account and nobody except the admins would know who it really was because the admins can verify using IP addresses. And at this stage, all of the high rank accounts are in their own guilds titled "xusername alts" or something of the like. So you made a name for your account when you were 12. It was goofy and you didn't like it anymore as you got older. So you spent endless hours macroing and simming on your new account and grabbing all of the hats. On top of this you artificially boosted your guild stats by doing this. You may have even folded on these alt accounts too, and while that latter part doesn't negatively affect Stanford it does make the leaderboards messy. Where is the guild with high-ranking prestigious long-time players who actually played together and got a bunch of GP? I don't think it exists. This is about to turn into a tangent on how functionally useless guilds are at the moment so I'll stop here.

- No forfeit voting: I was expressing to someone in the Discord that troll levels with no level ranking speak for themselves. However after thinking about this more I suppose this could restrict player expression. If the community doesn't enjoy frusts or traps then so be it (just speaking in example). There are threads on JV2 that suggest maybe a certain amount of time played before allowing voting. I think this would mitigate impulse negativity, and if a troll decides to stick it out for that long just to vote 1 star then I guess more power to the troll. After thinking about this I believe this is more reasonable. What do you guys think?

-EXP formula change: Not enough people play this game. I've read through the threads, and the long time macroers and simmers don't want their work to be diminished, however I've also seen this same group proclaim that Rank 50 is basically nothing (it was actually Rank 65), so why not just revamp the EXP formula to be more generous up until Rank 50?
