I love how there's literally no middle ground poll options lol.
As a anecdote, I know a lot of weebs/otakus are upset. Many companies that produce anime-related merchandise have stopped shipping to the US because of these tariffs. I assume because most fan merchandise is limited run, these companies see it as far more viable to target markets that don't get tariffed on the other end.
I naturally believe the conventional explanation, that the tariffs are a form of tit-for-tat. Trying to force other countries to lower their tariffs before the US lowers theirs.
I don't really expect it to work. Seems like the kind of plan that would take multiple presidential terms to even barely be viable. I doubt the next president, whoever they are, will continue the plan. But who knows, maybe the next republican president will be forced to appeal to the MAGA demographic by continuing Trump's work.
