We need to talk 🤔

Sit down and have a beer with me or something. I need to get something off my chest that I’ve wanted to say to you guys for a long time now. I tried to be nice, but I can’t take it anymore.

Ok, what the hell happened to you guys?? No one is active on JV as much as they used to be. Has the energy died down nowadays, or do you guys just don’t give a damn anymore? I’ve noticed that a lot of you haven’t posted a thread in years; now you’ve just reduced yourselves to being lurkers. I don’t know about you all, but I would get sick to death of lurking around and not posting or making threads.

This site would be a lot more popular if people grew comfortable expressing themselves and opening up more (publicly) about what’s happening in their lives. You don’t have to disclose any personal details if you don’t want to. Just let me know how you all are doing. When you all introduce yourselves in the welcome gates, no one really cares for some strange reason. Most admins don’t give a damn to go out of their way to post anything interesting because they don’t give a shit, either.

Accid Forums had all the magic - They made you believe that they were the jack of all trades, the daily news, and the source of a “MUST READ”, thread. I’d say after 2022, you guys have really slowed down and reduced yourselves to lurkers. You don’t see anything wrong with it because you perceive it as normal. Make a thread, post something interesting, tell me what’s going on in your life, do something! Why post on these dumbass threads like “a thread where you can only say same”, I don’t get it?

This has nothing to do with my threads; I’m just wondering why you guys don’t give a shit anymore in general. It’s like a vampire sucked the life out of you and now you guys are just spreading cog webs around this place. Places like Quora and Reddit would kick our asses if we competed against them. So tell me… what is going on with you guys, seriously? Are you depressed or something?

ah so a thread about how the internet has evolved and people move on from old things.

about the discussion hall and your threads: i don't like typing and writing as much as i used to. creating topics to talk discuss about on here isnt my expertise and i dont want to be criticized for being wrong about simple things or topics that i dont know about. so i simply stopped posting or trying to reply if my reply isnt looked at or acknowledged even if im confident about what the post is about.

as more and more time goes by the internet evolves quickly but sadly the old media such as forums doesn't. people want quick scrolling media such as tik tok.

This site is a v2 of jiggmin's flash games. the longer time goes by the less and less people will know who jiggmin is or was, if pr4 was released when it was scheduled and was successful, we could have this website popular as it once was. this place would also thrive with active management, we lost the creator of the site, jiggmin a decade ago, and now bls about 1 year ago? eternal gave up on cotm which was the only active contest/event around here, even if it was pretty much dead for the last 2 or so years.

if we were getting things from here like a monthly jiggmin post or video, a spicy new game update with qol features and community votes for what to add to the game, people posting interesting food recipes that you can only find here. but as of now, this place used to be the place to hang with platform racing2 friends and the contests gave it some spice to be more active.

Maybe people aren't that interested in threads about hypothetical scenarios that will probably never happen, especially if they can't really relate to what you are writing about.

If people can't relate to your content or don't have strong opinions on the topic, they probably won't bother writing a response.

You've made many threads in the past that have sparked some good conversations, so maybe you should try writing about something different instead of those "what would you do if someone was ______" scenarios.

Totally agree that it's been kinda dead around here for a while, compared to what it used to be. We're pretty much all guilty of lurking more or less instead of genuinely trying to use the forums as we used to back then. As it's been said already, it's partly due to the lack of new stuff going on, and also people have moved on from this niche form of media.

On the brighter side, there's always a handful of quick discussions and random slice of life sparks on the Discord, plus the occasional posts on different specifici channels. We could it complements the forum, as people are more likely to scroll through the Discord for those type of interactions, instead of looking for posts in Blogs. But the bigger discussions and game related topics such as suggestions always feel more relevant on here.
If you're reading this, it means I have not made a cool signature yet and you should be proud of yourself.

I can understand and respect your decision to not type anything because people generally attempt to avoid criticism and arguments. But I on the other hand still care about your opinions because they’ll always matter to me whether I agree or disagree. Every now and then, I would appreciate it if you mustered up the courage to at least let me know how you’re doing from time to time. I’m telling you this because I’ve been in your shoes, many times before. I’d love to hear everyone’s opinions about something.

Yeah, Tik Tok is what destroyed the next generation of people, honestly. Everyone only wants to spend a few secs on a video and then scroll/swipe to the next.

I agree, this site could definitely use some revamping and advertising for new things. I’m not sure when PR4 will be released, but I do know that if he would have to really make it shine to compete with other games that uses server-side clients and AI bots. When the creator moves on, then people start to develop the impression that he doesn’t care anymore; bls1999 fell under that category too, unfortunately.

It would be nice to get daily/weekly news about something exciting going on in the world or in someone’s life. I know you don’t care to write/type that much as you used to, but if you could at least tell me how you’re doing, I’d appreciate that.

Yeah maybe I should switch it up to something completely different because I’ve noticed that a lot of my threads now aren’t really getting that much attention. It’s very difficult dealing with lurkers. The only reason I did the “what if” or “what would you do” scenarios is because someone requested it. I’ve also noticed that JV2 is the wrong site for stuff like that.

I do have a lot of other ideas in the vault, but I’m not sure if anyone will ever be interested. So how are you doing these days, man? Anything exciting going on in your life, right now?

Absolutely because it’s like people gave up on creating threads and now they’re just starving for new trends while quietly contemplating about how magnificent this place used to be. The thing is when you don’t have a leader or a developer (who’s responsible for posting new content) manage the site, then it tells people that no one really cares anymore.

I’ve thought about migrating to discord, but then I wouldn’t know what to post on there. It sounds like to me that you can’t really post any blogs or threads that has written information, videos, and blogs. Yeah maybe it’s time I switch up my threads and focus on more game-related content if that’s ultimately what you guys care more about.

Anyways, how are things going with you IRL?

Yeah what truc said, the discord group for JV has taken over the more casual talk for the community.

Would be fun to have more events related to the games and the forum but activity in general in this community has dropped to similar levels it was in 2017 or so. Hopefully it'll pick back up to some extent.

Acid forums suffered a similar problem tbf but I agree it's not fun seeing forums dying out. I like them far more than new age social media

As I've grown older, I've become less interested in heavy topics. After adulting all day I just want to go home and unwind. It takes a lot of energy for me to read out a long thread and come up with a thoughtful response. I don't mind shutting off my brain, making a few random posts, and watching anime or videos, etc.
