Welcome to Round 61 of Campaign of the Month!

You'll be able to submit your Campaigns on this thread.
Additionally, if you have any levels you'd like to advertise, you can post them here too.



Guidelines

- Do not copy others' submissions.
- Do not include levels that are already in permanent Campaigns or award prizes (i.e. Hat Factory and The Golden Compass cannot be used).
- Try not to include levels that include advanced glitches or maneuvers.
- You are limited to two levels per creator per campaign (this includes any of their accounts).
Please include Level IDs with your submissions!

You are allowed to include any level in your Campaign that appears on PR2 (including your own); however, all levels must adhere to the PR2 rules (e.g. the level Treasury by PooZy would not adhere to the PR2 rules due to having profanity). Remember: this is the first thing users will see when starting the game!

The contest host (me) has the authority to modify/add rules as they see fit.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's 2024 and it's time to make your final decisions about Platform Racing 2. A whole bunch of you were arguing in my latest thread about how nostalgia should be preserved for those who wanted to remember the game for what it once was, and that's ok. Then there are those people (like me) who'd like to see some advanced features in Platform Racing 2. Both arguments are perfectly fine to me.

NOSTALGIA: Let me be blunt with you guys here: This game really sucks, nowadays. I know that seems like a cliche-thing to say, and I realize that you all are trying to keep these tournaments and level-of-the-week threads going, but quite frankly it's not enough and it's getting stale. I've heard numerous people complain about the BODY PARTS, the LEVEL MODES, the ITEMS, and the HATS. Honestly, I think nostalgia died 14 years ago when 2010 came. PR2 was at its peak during 2008-2009 when the roster was stacked, and that's when I think it was truly special because rank 50 was rare, and you had two special hats that were rare as well. If people wanted to preserve nostalgia, then we wouldn't have added so many rank tokens, body parts, items, level modes, and hats. If I'm wrong here, please point it out because everybody is going to have a difference in opinion about these things. So, when do you think nostalgia died?

WORST HAT EVER IMO: The Artifact hat. Seriously, though. I don't know why people made such a big deal over this worthless thing. All you're doing is racing with reversed controls (in hyper speed) for 30 secs and then you quit. Give me a break. The only thing it was ever good for was granting you 11,111 xp points when you found it. Other than that, who gives a damn?! I've even teased it, HERE.

THE FUTURE: If you're sick and tired of hearing about "nostalgia this", or "nostalgia that", then keep reading because things are about to take a hard left. First off, I think the future of Pr2 should have advanced features, now. Why? - Because it keeps the game interesting and it drifts away from being stale. Nostalgia is cool for the older players like myself, but you have to consider the future of this game.

So when you want to draw in new, active users... you need to market this game with advanced features. Be more innovate and insightful with new ideas. People are tired of seeing the same layouts, backgrounds, play styles, animations, sound effects, and music. Just ask @Master Raiden (see his comment down at the bottom of THIS thread). TBH with you guys, the latest ideas that I've seen lately, are pretty pathetic. I really don't think some of you guys are taking advantage of your full, artistic and creative abilities, here. Or maybe you guys could care less, huh?

Anyways, this goes much more deeper than that. Advertise, advertise, advertise! Stream! Stream! Stream! Yes, I know... it's going to be very complicated trying to advertise this game when you have much more, highly improved & advanced games on stream, nowadays. Which is why I don't even think Pr2 can compete with stream because it's a 2D dimensional-based game that's lull in development. Lastly, it's also why it should be advertised on sites that don't carry a lot of competition.

Some of you guys have younger siblings and children. Advertise this game to them and see what they think. Reminisce on all the great times you've had racing and chatting with your old buddies back in grade school, and then share those memories (that you were fond of) with them. Basically, you're passing the torch to the younger generations because originally, this game was a millennial-based game which is now played by Gen-Z's.

I can't even tell you guys how many times I've pitched a bunch of great ideas that will probably never get implemented into the game. A lot of these may be too advanced for Pr2, but it could potentially increase the roster. You can see them all in the spoiler, below. Am I wasting my time pitching these ideas, people... or am I incentivizing everyone by saying that Pr2 can be elevated to a higher level by tapping into the right side of your brain's hemisphere, by thinking outside of the box? I'm asking this because I feel like it's a waste of my time knowing none of this stuff will probably never go anywhere.


SOLUTIONS: Considering that some of you guys think that the game has had "too many updates", and some of you think that the game needs to "continue having updates", why don't I create a solution that'll solve everybody's problems, shall we. First off, I highly recommend creating two versions of Platform racing 2: the first version maintains all the nostalgia goodies that you guys were all fond of back in the day. This is where you get to decide how high the bar will be set that considers only just a few updates (past 2009) that are absolutely necessary. In this version of Pr2, I'd at least keep the rank tokens because it'd be weird to login to Pr2 with less than what you've previously achieved. Also, this version of Pr2 doesn't have "spam-added" updates. Just a few simple, campaigns and updates that doesn't go overboard. That way, you can explain to your children and younger siblings how Pr2 was, back in the day.

Now for the second version, this is more so of an advanced version because you can update the game (with advanced features) and pitch new ideas as much as you want to. For example, you can consider my ideas in the spoiler, above. But, there still needs to be a cap that prevents unnecessary updates and ideas. Someone needs to be the judge of which updates and ideas are actually good, and which updates and ideas would either break the game and render it as unplayable, or consider it as a piece of trash. However you want to slice it, is ultimately up to you.

SYNDICATE: Now obviously, we can't just push all this hard work on poor @bls1999 because the man has a life. There's a reason why things like the REPLAY SYSTEM hasn't been implemented into the game, yet. Ben really needs an assistance coder with years of experience, to be a right-hand man and implement this stuff into the game. I'm sure he'd like to consider adding a lot of this stuff into pr2, but he's put it off because he knows there's going to be a great deal of trial and error that comes along with it.

So, this is how things are going to be proposed for Pr2, including JV2:

Let me explain all the logic and reasoning behind all these decisions.

Creative Pr2 Geniuses: These people are responsible for coming up with innovate ideas that go outside of the Pr2 norm. These people specialize in discovering new features that really stretch the imagination, and they possess a highly creative mindset that'll take pr2 to the next level.

Creative Artists: these people possess advanced skill levels in their artistic abilities. They understand color, texture, space, shade, and much more! They have years of experience, and they're highly gifted in drawing and painting, graphically. You can rest assure that their work will always end up polished and pristine.

Creative Music ideas: these people are virtuosos. They are fully aware of what is appropriate for the required thing at hand. They're musical geniuses who not only have an abundance of musical ideas, they also create it themselves in DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations). They understand chords, notes, melodies, hooks, scales, storytelling, and bridges. They know how to tell a story, and they know exactly what Pr2 needs.

Beta Testers: These people are responsible for discovering any bugs or issues before a general release. Should anything come up, and they'll be responsible for reporting it to management before it gets implemented into the game, permanently.

Bugs and Suggestions: These people are very good at spotting problems with bugs in the game. You can always count on them to report any issues in Pr2.

Creative sound effects: these people understand what sound effects are appropriate for things like video games, movies, and television shows. For instance, whenever a character shoots someone with a bullet, you can expect to hear the sound of a bullet being fired & someone screaming to death. They also understand the audio engineering behind the process.

Coding and Development: these people understand things like programming language, and implementing a set of instructions that dictates how the game behaves, once the machine receives those instructions. This is where the magic happens because all our ideas can come to life, here.

Critics: These people speak articulately, and are very knowledgable about the game. They'll view your ideas, then elaborate on why it's a good idea or a bad idea.

New JV MODS: We really don't have any mods at the moment, and these people are always active. So, why not nominate these guys ?‍♂️

Administrators/Managers: When Ben is unavailable, these guys have the responsibility of overseeing all the creative ideas and considering critiques for the game. Someone comes up with an idea, we critique it and vote on whether it's a good idea or not, then management will have the final say-so and say "ok, this looks good!" If not, then we'll discuss on ways to either improve it, or we'll dismiss the idea altogether. At this point, should Ben be unavailable, we'll have our right-hand man code this stuff for us. Then the beta testers will test it out to see if there are any bugs or issues. Finally, management will then report it back to Ben to seek his approval. That way, all the stress is uplifted from Ben's hands.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Some of you will be required to wear more than one hat in this syndicate because of your level of expertise in certain areas. If I notice that someone is really knowledgable in a certain area, then I'll automatically add your name to the list. If you do not want to be on the list, or you'd rather have your name moved elsewhere, then please let me know. Otherwise, I'm going to assume that you're cool with it. If there's anyone whom you think should be added to the list, then please let me know that as well.

Now, if I get too many votes on this idea being a bad idea, then I'm just going to pull the plug and stop pitching ideas. I have an abundance of undiscovered ideas that you guys are unaware of. It goes beyond my original, creative thinking level. It'll seem unfathomable at first, but you'll understand it eventually.

I've given up on the Aftermath hat because my drawing skills are mediocre, I'm not even kidding. This is why I've created a syndicate because I need people to help me get these ideas implemented into the game. My role is to pitch creative ideas, not become a coder, an artist, or a programmer... and I sure as hell don't know anything about reading algorithms. None of those things are in my skillset.

So, what's it gonna be, people?! Is 2024 the ultimate beginning of change for Pr2, or should we dismiss these ideas and pull the plug on them?

  Setting Teleport Block color does not work sometimes

Problem: Teleport Block Color Picker doesn't update color properly
Type of Problem: Client
Expected Behavior: The color that is selected is applied to the Teleport Block when the OK button is pressed
Actual Behavior: Color is prematurely applied to the Teleport Block and applying another color after that doesn't work sometimes

Steps to Reproduce the Problem:
1. Go to Level Editor and place a Teleport Block
2. Open the Teleport Block's Block Options, then open the Color Picker
3. Click somewhere in the Color Picker to make the Block Options menu disappear
The color currently selected in the Color Picker is applied to the Teleport Block, but the Color Picker remains open
4. Slowly drag the Hue slider arrow until you have passed a lot of different colors
5. Click OK
The selected color is not applied to the Teleport Block
For some reason, if you have passed through a lot of colors with the Hue slider, the color does not get applied

Additional Information:
The prematurely applied color does not appear in the recent colors section of the Color Picker.
The color that you selected but did not get applied to the Teleport Block does appear in the recent colors section.

Color application does not work when the Block Options pop-up is not visible and you:
• Click and drag the Hue slider arrow slowly and pass through a lot of different colors
• Click and drag the Hue slider arrow, then release when your cursor is outside of the Color Picker pop-up
• Type in a color code. This does not happen that often

  Random player position differences

Original Bug Report: [PR2 Bug] Seemingly random chance that this wont work

When you enter a level or test a level in Level Editor, there is a small chance that something happens to your player's position. Apparently your position gets rounded differently which can affect the gameplay of levels involving precise maneuvers such as Don't Moves and glitch levels.

I added this filter to the beginning of Pixel Perfect by Devious Taylor (6511621) to make sure the player's position wasn't glitched. Try replaying that level until you hit the mine. It only happens about 1 in 50 times.

If you pause both videos on the frame before the mine is hit, you can see that both players are in the exact same position, but one hits the mine while the other one doesn't.
In the very next frame, the position of both players is also exactly the same, so this is a weird glitch.

Not sure if it should be fixed, but posting anyway for knowledge sharing.

  Guests receive wrong PM error message

Problem: Guests who are Rank 3 or above receive the wrong PM error message
Type of Problem: Server
Expected Behavior: The correct reason for a failed PM is shown, or Guests are unable to access the Send PM button
Actual Behavior: Guests are always told that they need to be Rank 3 or above to send PMs

Steps to Reproduce the Problem:
1. Log in to PR2 as a Guest
2. Achieve Rank 3 or higher
3. Attempt to send a PM to someone
The PM will not be sent and you will be told that you need to be Rank 3 or higher to send a PM

Additional Information:
Before the Player Info popup was updated, the Send PM button was always disabled for Guests.
So I think the Send PM button should be removed for Guests, just like how the Share Level button is removed when viewing Level details.

  THE GRIPS OF DEATH!

If you don't do anything else, read this thread and leave a comment because I can promise you that you're not going to get anything even remotely close to this on JV. If you're tired of lurking around reading the same ole crap from other threads, then please read this. Everybody can relate to this.

Do you ever feel like you can't even breathe, or your anxiety is so overwhelming that you feel like you're going to faint? Or even worse... you feel like you're going to die! Your blood pressure is running sky-high, you've got sweat glands dripping through your legs, you're shaking in fear, and you can't even move! Just imagine some asshole used to make your life so miserable that you go through life loathing yourself because you're constantly wondering what you did wrong. No one taught you how to defend yourself, so when the feeling of being completely helpless takes over, you freeze up like a coward and accept the ass whoopin' because you're overthinking all the factors of what might happen if you fight back.

Just imagine asking your crush out on a date for the first time, but no one ever taught you how to do so or even teach you about how relationships work. So your subconscious mind plants a dark seed, deep within you so you'll grow up being traumatized with overthinking simplistic things too much, or you develop a lack of confidence with talking to girls. You begin to do strange things like stalking her waiting for the perfect moment to ask her out, stare at her all day hoping she'll make the first move, or you sit still like a tree and do nothing because your heart is racing so fast that you can't even think straight.

Or even worse: you think she's too hot and way out of your league to ask out on a date. So, every time she's in your presence, you say something totally dumb leading her to think you're retarded. Then just when you thought it couldn't get worse, you end up wetting yourself in front of her because your childhood trauma overpowered you so much, that you couldn't even think straight; so embarrassing! So then, she walks away and finds a man that outclasses you in every way possible, while you tuck your tail between your legs going home loathing yourself even more because you took a huge L on this one, especially during adulthood. All this can cause you to grow up being a virgin who's never kissed a girl before. You see, it's so easy to place the blame on all these other factors except for ourselves.

This can be related to self-doubt where you're constantly questioning whether you're even good enough for relationships in the first place. Friends and family are constantly questioning why you're still single, or your parents keep harassing you about grandchildren. THE GRIPS OF DEATH comes in where you're stressed out and pressured over doing something that's completely out of your comfort zone, so you feel like there's no space to breathe around people who don't even understand where you're coming from; they think you're strange.

Going through this kind of thing (or anything else) can be a nightmare because your childhood trauma can prevent you from doing something that's normal to everybody else, so you completely isolate yourself from the public feeling overshadowed by people who make the things that you can't do, look so smooth. Or how about becoming an introvert because you're afraid of what others might think of you.

Now, I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with being an introvert, nor am I saying that that's the only reason why people become one in the first place. But, what I am saying is that there is a strong possibility that some people do suffer from some horrendous, childhood trauma circumstances, which could possibly be one of the reasons why they choose to become an introvert. For example, you might have heard someone tell you that you're a piece of shit who'll never seek relationships, find any friends because you're not good enough, lose weight, or even grow a set and fight your demons because you're a pussy to them, right? Hearing that all your life can cause major problems when you grow up. One of those problems can be quite suicidal!

I can't breathe! I can't breathe! I can't breathe! The demons got those massive, baseball glove hands wrapped around your throat, constantly squeezing the life out of you every time you even think about trying something out of your comfort zone. The more you try to fight back, the more you end up getting your ass kicked, every time. Someone or something stepped up to the plate and challenged you for once. Your conscious mind is thinking, "hell yeah, let's do this!" Your subconscious mind is thinking, "you better sit your ass down! Don't be a fool!" At that moment, a substantial amount of anxiety juices up and runs through your veins like black venom. Your demons are feeding off that delicious fear building massive amounts of energy and making you miss out on massive opportunities in life. Then you'll be an old man or old woman thinking, "damn it, why didn't I just go for it!"

How about if you're one of those goofballs who's injured themselves in the shower, or you've injured yourself in a way that's way too embarrassing to discuss with anyone. So when confronted about it, you then shrug it off and say that it's a sports-related injury to maintain your manliness and avoid losing testosterone because you want to be one of the boys who gets girls all the time. If the truth ever came out, you would be labeled all kinds of colorful names based on your personality alone.

Everyone is laughing at you, so you begin to avoid tolerating these things, ending up clinically depressed and lonely because you've got this tight grip around your throat that revolves around personal issues. Even at night, you can't sleep and you're caught in sleep paralysis where your nightmares are playing out your childhood traumas like a tape recorder. You try to scream for help, but there's no one around to save you because you can barely breathe or speak.


If you've ever suffered from one of these horrendous, childhood traumas before, then you know just what I'm talking about. It plays out in our lives almost everyday. Just the feeling of being completely helpless, or you see someone being abused or crying, and you can't do anything about it because you're too apprehensive of what might happen to you. Your conscious mind is saying, "get up and do something about it, dummy!" The demons are saying, "shut the hell up, coward! Stay out of people's business because you're too weak and spineless for this fight!" The demons will attack your subconscious mind because that's ultimately the boss of your daily decisions.

All these childhood trauma circumstances can lead you into thinking that you really are a piece of shit who's an NPC (non-playable character). So then you start making mistakes somewhere in life, and then people begin to make fun of you. Once that happens, you'll probably become a drug addict, an alcoholic, or find some sort of addiction to ease the pain and trauma because you feel like there's no other solution after walking in total darkness.

Don't be afraid to open up and share your childhood trauma circumstances on this thread. I've had one before where I was very uncomfortable with public speaking. As I got older, I grew extremely exhausted of it, so I decided to take public speaking classes to deal with it.

I noticed there's way too many threads on JV related to Pr2, but they don't last very long because they're not really IRL debatable topics.

I learned to do art growing up here on PR2. I even used some printouts of drawings I did here to apply for my middle school's advanced art class, and got in! I have never been good at drawing from my head, I've always been a referencial artist. And yes, a lot of the things I've drawn on levels are easily findable on google images (this was a scandal of sorts back in the day). I think referencing images is a great way to amp up your own levels. We aren't profiting off of our levels, it is just for us and we are publishing levels, not artwork. The art is just a part of the level. Which leads me to my first tip.

Find a reference! My level had an empty space that could use a nice drawing, so I searched for the right reference. I found this gem.

It is perfect for my level, so now I just need to draw it. Luckily, the composition is pretty easy, otherwise I'd need this next step.

Trace! Tracing is taboo with art, but I think it should only really be taboo for art students. art students should be learning to draw from sight. We are not art students, we are Platform Racers! Back in the day, for a complex drawing, I'd print out a photo of what I wanted to draw and tape it to my computer screen, then trace an outline to start with. If I were to do that now, I'd use a transparent overlay of the image to trace it.

Color Picking! We are very blessed today with the updated color picker. Gone are the days when we only had the 150 colors to choose from. But what a lot of people didn't realize back then, is that you could paste in color hexcodes to bring in way more colors. Now our color picker is much better, we have everything we need. almost.
Back in the day, Clairehof gave me some tips. She would upload her reference into paint and use the eye dropper tool to get the hexcodes of the colors in the reference, then paste them into the PR2 color picker. That was revolutionary for me.
Now, I have an eyedropper extention on my browser, so I'll take a few samples from my reference and post them in a note's page and label them so I can come back and find the same color again later. I'll take a sample for the main color, the shadow color, and the highlight color. Now I just need to put the colors where they go. It is a make you own paint by number.
The first thing I did after getting that tip from Clairehof was this:

I found an image I liked. I traced it. I got the exact colors from the reference, and painted them where they went in PR2.

Another thing I'll do when I'm not exactly drawing something, but just decorating, is I'll look up a color palette and adjust colors from there. By starting with a color palette, I know that all of the colors I use are going to look good together.

Be aware and careful with the Atmospheric Effect in the game. The color you have as the background will effect the colors in the layers. Especially layers 2 and 3. In my drawing of the Lemon, I drew it when I had a neutral gray background, but at the end, I changed it to be brown/orange. This made the Lemon look more orange than it used to because it is being effected by the background color. When drawing in farther back layers, I'll still use an eyedrop tool to get the color, but I'll use the ingame color picker to raise the intensity of the color so it has more pop when I use it.
